Hughes is the world's largest VSAT equipment manufacturer and also the largest VSAT service provider.

In terms of equipment production and sales, Hughes' VSAT products account for half of the global market share of the whole industry. Up to 5.8 million three series (Jupiter, HN and HX ) of satellite communication stations have been sold and installed in the worldwide.

In addition to equipment production and sale, Hughes is also the world's largest VSAT service provider, combining VSAT and terrestrial lines, and providing managed communication services to users worldwide. Hughes' satellite communications services cover the whole world, with millions of home users and more than 300,000 government/enterprise customers in North America alone. Hughes is the first satellite communications operator in North America owning more than one million home broadband subscribers. 
 

For operational services, in addition to renting third-party satellite resources, Hughes also uses its own Ka-band high-capacity satellite (HTS), such as Spaceway 3 (10G capacity, on-board routing, single-hop communication), EchoStar-17 (100G capacity) , EchoStar-19 (220G capacity, launched in December 2016).

Through VSAT service operations using own products, Hughes continuously improves product design and spec performance .

In addition to VSAT, Hughes also designs/manufactures other telecommunications equipment such as BGAN (Inmarsat Maritime Satellite Terminal), Thuraya Ground Gateway and Terminal, PMP (LMDS) Digital Microwave System.
